State Pageant time again!

It's Louisiana state pageant time again for Alaina & she's ready to go! This year, we'll be a lot closer to home; the pageant will be held at the Crowne Plaza in Baton Rouge, LA! We're very excited & can't wait! Since it's been awhile since we posted so here's a synopsis of Alaina's several months:

Lots of school productions

• December 2011 "Christmas Around the World" - Alaina was a dancer represented Europe! They were soooo gorgeous!
• February 2012 "Black American History" - Alaina danced in two performances
• May 2012 "Fire" - Alaina danced in one of the opening performances as a firefighter to "We Didn't Start the Fire" then danced again to Cher's "Believe" in the finale with her cheer squad

Cheer Events (so many I don't remember them all)  

• Finale performance in school production of "Fire"
• Mardi Gras parade
• Christmas parade
• Several school pep rallies
• Plaquemine HS Homecoming game performance (during the first half of game & halftime)
• Breast Cancer Awareness parade during Pink Week at her school
• Softball tournament at Plaquemine HS
• I can't remember them all but it was great!

Community Involvement

• May 2012 - toy & book drive, donated during pageant week
• Christmas 2011 - toy & clothing drive, donated to Battered Women's Shelter
• Thanksgiving 2011 - clothing & food drive, donated to Battered Women's Shelter

Achievements

• Alaina made the 2011-12 & 2012-13 cheer squads at her school as well as the Summer 2011 parish cheer squad
• May 2012 - received Platinum Scholar Award for 4.0 GPA second year in a row (YAY Lain!!)
• November 2011 - receives NAMiss Alumni Association Scholarship award for her essay on Bullying (see below)

I think that about sums it up! She's had a busy school year & this summer will be just the same!

The state pageant is in about two weeks. We've got her photos ready for the photogenic contest, outfits ready for the casual wear modeling competitions, top model photo shoot, interview & formal wear competitions! Her resume is done & her speech is prepared - she nailed it within a few minutes of writing it! I'm very proud of my girl because her preparation efforts, smiles & zeal are awesome for a little kid! I'm so thrilled that NAM is a part of our lives because she's truly more outgoing! She wants to be a part of everything now! Thank you NAMiss for allowing my little lady to reach her potential; I know much more will come of this relationship!
